Healthy Activities for the Summer

As summer continues to approach, here are some summer activities that you can do in your free time that can also contribute to a healthier lifestyle.
1) Swimming
This popular activity can be quite healthy for you. Because swimming tends to be fairly active, some forms can actually be considered exercise. However, you do not have to be swimming laps for this activity to be beneficial. Even just laying on a floaty can improve health: Because many pools are outside, swimming can expose you to vitamin D. As long as you are sure to apply sunscreen and protect your skin, this activity can provide many benefits!
2) Sleeping
While the school year can be quite busy – with tests, school work, activities, and more – the summer can provide the perfect opportunity to get more sleep. Sleeping in every now and then can help rejuvenate your body, allowing it to get the rest that it needs to function properly. It is great to stay in bed and take rest days as well. However, make sure you are also making time to take part in physical activities too! Exercise (even simply walking) is essential to your well being.
3) Passing time with loved ones
Summer is the perfect time to improve mood and mental health by spending time with loved ones. Since the summer tends to provide more free time, reach out to those you care about to hang out. Talking, laughing, and even just being with loved ones (whether friends, family, or other special people in your life) is important for happiness and mental well being. Take time out of your day to visit with people who make you feel joy.
